Science Project : Model and Presentation
Students create a science model, and present their model. The model is based on the relationships between the Sun, Earth, and Moon. The presentation shows the student's understanding of the concepts covered in class (learning standards and/or objectives).

Model as it Relates to Science

Model does not reflect any research or planning. There are major flaws in how the model demonstrates the concepts.
Developing
Model shows evidence of research in planning and reflects some accuracy with what is happening with the Sun, Earth, and Moon.
Proficient
Model reflects research and planning. It accurately shows the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon.
Extending
Model reflects research and planning. It accurately demonstrates the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon. The model may demonstrate a further relationship as the student, of his or her initiative set out to explore.
Construction, creativity, neatness
Emerging
The model is poorly constructed. It lacks in neatness creativity. Time may have run out for the student to create a completed model.
Developing
The model is constructed with some neatness and creativity. Some parts were missing or fell apart.
Proficient
The model is carefully constructed, and showcases the students' creativity. All parts were evident and held together securely.
Extending
The model is carefully constructed with a variety of materials that showcase student's creativity and are appropriate.
Presentation
Emerging
Does not speak clearly, make eye contact, or is unprepared to present model. Limited knowledge of the concepts.
Developing
Eye contact, clear speech, or preparation to present model is minimal. The student has some understanding of the concepts but may not be confident or has made an error with one or two concepts.
Proficient
Speaks clearly, makes eye contact, and presents model well. The student has a solid understanding of the concepts and can speak confidently about them.
Extending
Anticipates questions and takes ownership of the model. Deep and thorough understanding of all the concepts. May even have introduced concepts not covered in class.
