Thesis	Underdeveloped Thesis is vague; no stand is taken on an issue.	Developing Thesis is vague; may be more fact than opinion.	Proficient Thesis is clear and expresses and opinion. A strong stand is taken and defended throughout the paper.	Well-Developed Thesis is clear and expresses an opinion. A strong, specific stand is taken and defended consistently throughout the paper.
Arguments	Underdeveloped Arguments for the thesis are absent.	Developing Arguments for the thesis are present but are not effective.	Proficient Arguments for the thesis are present but are some are ineffective.	Well-Developed Arguments are s clearly presented and effective.

Organization	Underdeveloped Very difficult to understand because words are mumbled and ideas are totally out of sequence. Looks down at the floor or notes all the time while speaking and body language is not positive.	Developing Speaks too fast and is difficult to understand about half the time.
