Response	Novice The answer to the question is lacking any detail. The answer demonstrates a lack of understanding of the content.	Apprentice The answer does not address a portion of the question, or major details are missing. .	Practitioner The answer is missing slight details. All information provided is accurate. understanding of the content.	Expert The answer is complete. All information provided is accurate. a deep understanding of the content.
Main/Topic Idea Sentence	Novice Main/Topic idea sentence is some what unclear and incorrectly placed, and is not restated in the closing sentence.	Apprentice Main/Topic idea sentence is unclear and incorrectly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.	Practitioner Main/Topic idea sentence is either unclear or incorrectly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.	Expert Main/Topic idea sentence is clear, correctly placed, and is restated in the closing sentence.
Supporting Detail Sentence	Novice Paragraph(s) have no supporting detail sentences that relate back to the main idea. Most statements are inaccurate.	Apprentice Paragraph(s) have one supporting detail sentence that relate back to the main idea. Some statements are inaccurate.	Practitioner Paragraph(s) have two supporting detail sentences that relate back to the main idea.	Expert Paragraph(s) have three or more supporting detail sentences that relate back to the main idea. All statements are accurate.
Mechanics and Grammar	Novice Paragraph has six or more punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and/or spelling errors.
