In groups of three students must select one member to be candidate where they then create a speech and a promotional video on iMovie to persuade the class to vote for them. Students then experience key features of the electoral process in Australia including compulsory voting, the secret ballot and preferential voting to select a class Prime Minister.

Excellent

Provides strong, highly persuasive and creative arguments to convince voter and is written to a high standard with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Good

Provides fairly strong and convincing arguments is written to a good standard with minimal grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
Fair

Provides fairly weak arguments that are generic and not highly convincing. The speech is written with some errors including spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Project is fairly weak with not a lot of creativity shown. Minimal iMovie features are included such as music, audio, images and text. The editing of the video needs improvement.
Poor

Project is messy, disorganized, and includes minimal if any audio, sound effects, text, music and images.
Preferential Vote

Excellent

Correctly displayed the process of preferential voting with no errors
Good

Displayed the process of preferential voting with only 1-2 errors.
Fair

Displayed the process of preferential voting with 3 or more errors.
Poor

Displayed the process of preferential voting incorrectly and received zero marks.
