Meiosis Stop motion movie
Students will reconstruct the processes of meiosis. All steps in meiosis must be labeled correctly and identifiable. Stop Motion Studio or any app of your choice may be used to make a digital stop-motion animation (similar to a digital flipbook). Students may choose their materials for the reconstruction.

Construction / Materials

Advanced

Appropriate materials were selected and creatively modified in ways that made them even better. Student went above and beyond.
Proficient

Appropriate materials were selected and there was an attempt at creative modification to make them even better.
Developing

Some appropriate materials were selected but minimal effort was applied to create structure.
Initial

Inappropriate materials were selected and contributed to a product that performed poorly.
Quality of work

Advanced

Great care taken in reconstruction process so that the structure is neat, attractive and follows the process accurately.
Proficient

Reconstruction was careful and accurate for the most part, but 1 detail could have been refined for a more attractive product.
Developing

Reconstruction appears careless or haphazard. More then 2 details need refinement for a strong or attractive product
Initial

Reconstruction appears almost non-existent. Student supplied a product that has no organization or evidence of the process.
Labeling and stages

Advanced

Included all required stages of cell cycle, mitosis and meiosis cell division. Labels were applied in correct places.
Proficient

Included most required aspects of meiosis cell division (1-3 labels left out). Can still see specific structures and difference between mitosis and meiosis.
Developing

Included very few required aspects of meiosis cell division (4-5 labels left out). Little recognizable steps for mitosis and meiosis.
Initial

Included almost no required aspects of meiosis cell division (no labels present). Product presented makes it hard to recognize the steps of mitosis and meiosis.
Accuracy

Advanced

All aspects of the cell cycle, mitosis and meiosis are completed with no mistakes. Structure and chromosome pairing, etc. are accurate.
Proficient

All aspects meiosis are completed with 1-3 mistakes in structure and chromosome pairing, etc.
Developing

All aspects of meiosis are completed with 4-5 mistakes in structure and chromosome pairing, etc.
Initial

All aspects of meiosis are completed with more than 5 mistakes in structure and chromosome pairing, etc.
Presentation

Advanced

Able to completely identity each step of mitosis and meiosis. Movie is smooth, attractive, and attention is paid to details.
Proficient

Able to completely identity each step of meiosis. Movie is blurry but attractive, little attention is paid to details.
Developing

Most steps of meiosis are hard to identify. Movie is unclear, unattractive, and there is evidence of little effort.
Initial

Unable to accurately identify meiosis. Movie shows no effort.
