Story events What, Who, When, Why, Where, How	Level 1 The student did not describe enough of the important events from the story to retell or summarize the story.	Level 2 The student told some of the story but did not include the most important events.	Level 3 The student summarized the story using the most important events.	Level 4 The student summarized the story using the most important events and included supporting details.
Mechanics Sentence structure and grammar	Level 1 The student exhibited numerous spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and/or grammar errors.	Level 2 The student has some of the summary corrected for spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and/or grammar errors.
