Listening 3 pts Listening with whole body.	Poor Does not look at the person talking. Body, hands and/or feet are distracted. Facing away from the speaker.	Fair Does at least 1 of the following: - Looks at speaker with eyes - faces the speaker - Keeps body, hands, feet still	Good Does at least 2 of the following: - Looks at speaker with eyes - faces the speaker - Keeps body, hands, feet still	Mastery Looks at the person talking; body, hands and feet are still; facing the speaker.
Stay on Topic 3 pts Able to stay on topic with the conversation.	Poor Is not involved in the conversation because he is distracted by something else, or does not participate.	Fair Participates in the conversation, but has 3 or more off-topic comments.	Good Responds on topic most of the time, but needs at least 1 reminder from teacher.	Mastery Is able to respond to a speaker on topic, comment, asks questions to the speaker about the topic.
Waiting Turn 3 pts Knows when to wait turn in conversations.	Poor Interrupts and does not wait turn to talk.	Fair Interrupts more than 3 times in a conversation.	Good Interrupts 2 or less times in a conversation.	Mastery Is able to wait turn during the whole conversation.
Greetings 3 pts Greeting / small talk	Poor Does not greet others.	Fair Greets and responds to others only when reminded.	Good	Mastery Greets and responds to a greeting without reminders.
Ask a Question 3 pts Asks questions to start a conversation, or find out about someone's interest.	Poor Does not ask any questions of others that are to start a conversation or find out about someone's interests.	Fair Only asks questions related to own interest.	Good Asks questions, but may already know the answer, or it isn't related to the conversation.	Mastery Asks at least one question to find out about someone else's interest or thoughts.
Being respectful in a group 3 pts Changes behavior if it is bothering friends and teacher.	Poor Ignores friends and teachers when asked to change behavior.	Fair Changes behavior, but only for a short time and then forgets.	Good Changes behavior, but needs at least 2 reminders.	Mastery Adjusts behavior and listens to friends and teachers when asked to stop doing something that bothers them.
Be a We, not a Me Talker 3 pts Thinks of others and not just self.	Poor Only talks about self and self topics.	Fair Answers questions that others ask, but will usually only talk about things of self interest.	Good Sometimes talks about things other people are interested in, but need reminders by my teacher.	Mastery Talks to find out things about other people. Does not talk only to be able to tell about own life.
