Choose Your Own Math Adventure - A Performance Project

In this performance task, students will create a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story relating math concepts and terminology to an original story. Stories will be presented using hyperlinks in PowerPoint or Keynote.

Mathematical Concepts 30 % This is a math adventure about our geometry unit. The math in this story is the most important part! Satisfactory Scribe The story includes 5-7 math concepts/vocabulary terms from the geometry unit	Needs-Improvement Novelist The story includes 4 or less math concepts/vocabulary terms from the geometry unit.
Mathematical Relevance 20 % Your story should serve as a review to you and your peers. Be sure to include the math accurately within your story.	Advanced Author The story clearly conveys the math concepts in context. By reading this adventure story, one would have a better understanding of the math concepts.	Satisfactory Scribe The story has little to do with the math concepts. By reading this story, one would be unsure about the meanings of the math concepts mentioned.	Needs-Improvement Novelist The story has nothing to do with the math concepts. By reading this story, one would gain no clear understanding of the math concepts being presented.
Storyboard 10 % Organize, organize, organize! Plan out the story elements and math before you even touch your computer!	Advanced Author The storyboard clearly shows the story paths and brief notes about the plot, characters, and possible choices. A minimum of 4 slides contain choices for the reader.	Satisfactory Scribe The storyboard shows the story paths, but notes regarding plot, characters and possible choices are unclear or are missing elements.
