Reading Strategy: Visualizing Reading Strategy: Visualizing Students were asked to illustrate what they visualized (setting, characters, events & objects) when reading two poems written by Shel Silverstein (Messy Room & Green Giant) and provide support using evidence from the text. Level 2 Images demonstrate some inferences about elements of the story, but main concepts are missing	Level 3 Images illustrate key elements of character, setting and events in text.	Level 4 Images illustrate key elements of character, setting and events in text. Images are detailed, and student can describe additional details from mental image.
Directions Student followed directions to create the visual.	Level 1 No images of events in the text.	Level 2 Some images make sense in relation to the text.	Level 3 Most images make sense in relation to the text.	Level 4 Excellent demonstration of most of the events in the text.
