	Poor 17 pts	Fair 20 pts	Excellent 25 pts
Content-Details	Poor Writer uses little detail. Single phrases and fragments used. Unclear whether student understood the reading. Responses too general.	Fair Writer provided short answers, where more detailed response required. Some understanding of the reading was revealed through responses.	Excellent Writer's responses were detailed and provided descriptions that made clear student understanding of the reading.
Summarizing	Poor Reader shows little or no awareness of what the story is about. Summaries are too short and general.	Fair Reader included some main details but left out important ideas. Summaries are incomplete.	Excellent Reader retold the story effectively and efficiently. Summaries are well detailed.
Neatness	Poor Student shows little care and quality in neatness of writing. Legibility if poor.	Fair Student shows some care and quality in neatness of writing. Legibility is okay.	Excellent Student shows extreme care and quality in neatness of writing. Writing is legible and organized.
Completion	Poor Student did not complete all entries. More than 30% of the entries are incomplete.	Fair Student completed most the entries. 90% or more are completed.	Excellent Student completed all entries with only 1-2 entries incomplete.
