The performance is to be memorized, not read and display emotion/expression, should tell a complete story, words must be well articulated and voice controlled; presentation should not exceed 10 minutes in presentation.

Poor

Performer lacked vocal clarity; forgot lines; did not connect with character; lacked emotion; was too short and did not tell a complete story.
Fair

Performer voice usually strong and clear; some articulation difficulties; forgot less than three lines; attempted emotion and character connectivity but lacked believability; broke character more than once and told a complete story; length was 11 minutes or more.
Good

Performer could be heard with adequate articulation; occasionally hesitated between lines but recovered; emotion attempts were sometimes awkward; character focus was strong and confident. Maintained audience interest and told a complete story not exceeding 10 minutes.
Excellent

Performer had excellent articulation, voice control, and could be easily heard; all lines were memorized and delivered with intentional emotions; monologue flowed in character; maintained audience attention and emotional involvement and told a complete story not exceeding 10 minutes.
