Ideas and Content	Level 1 Procedural idea is unclear. I was confused about what the procedure was about.	Level 2 You put thought into this, but it is hard to tell what you are writing about. More information is needed to follow the directions.	Level 3 What you are writing about is clear. You stayed with the idea. All the steps are there and can be followed.	Level 4 What you are writing about is clear from the start. Anyone can follow the directions.
Organization	Level 1 I see you used a graphic organizer to help you stay focused. Your writing needs details so the I can have a clearer idea of what your procedure is about.	Level 2 Keep working at it. I think you may have left out one or more steps or they may have been out of order. I was a little confused while reading it.	Level 3 Your steps are clear and in the correct order. You used transitional words. I would have loved to see more transitional words.	Level 4 Your procedure is really clear. The details and transitional words in your writing give a good idea about what steps to take.
Sentence Fluency	Level 1 Your sentences are either too short or too long. I had a hard time understanding your ideas.	Level 2 Some of your sentences are complete and easy to undersand.	Level 3 Your sentences are complete and easily understood.	Level 4 Your senteces are complete and sound interesting when they are read out loud.
Conventions	Level 1 Few end marks or capital letters. Capital letters used incorrectly. Many spelling errors.	Level 2 Mistakes using end marks or capitals as well as spelling mistakes make the writing hard to read.	Level 3 Use of punctuation marks and capitals, as well as spelling, is mostly correct. Few errors exist.	Level 4 Almost no punctuation or capital letter mistakes. No or very few spelling errors.
