Introduction	Exceeding Standard Introduces a precise, knowledgeable topic, establishes the significance of the topic, distinguishes the topic from alternate or oposing topics, and creates an organization that logically sequences claims, counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.	Meeting Standard Introduces the topic that is being compared and contrasted, acknowledges and distinguishes the topic, and organizes the similarities and differences logically.	Approaching Standard Introduces the topic that is being compared and contrasted and organizes the reasons and evidence clearly.	Far Below Standard Introduces the topic but does so in an incoherent way.
Support/Evidence	Exceeding Standard All of the supporting details are written neatly and have strong evidence of the main idea proving it true.	Meeting Standard All of the supporting details are included and clearly stated.	Approaching Standard Contains some details from the story. The details are included but may be vague.	Far Below Standard Contains no supporting details. or the details included do not support the main idea.

Approaching Standard The paper is readable, but lacks organization which distracts the reader. Errors with the format, spelling, and grammar detracts from the paper.	Far Below Standard The paper has little organization, and does not follow the criteria outlined in the paper. Proofreading is not evident.
