Elements of Drama Rubric
	Needs Improvement 3 pts	Fair 6 pts	Very Good 8 pts	Excellent 10 pts
Plot Initial incident, Preliminary event, Rising action, Climax, Falling action, Denouement	Needs Improvement Student can identify and list 2 or less elements of the plot structure of the drama.	Fair Student can identify and list 3 of the elements of the plot structure of the drama.	Very Good Student can identify and list 4-5 of the elements of the plot structure of the drama.	Excellent Student can identify and list all 6 of the elements of the plot structure of the drama.
Characters Names, character details, major and minor characters	Needs Improvement Student cannot identify any characters by name and cannot give any details about them.	Fair Student can only identify one of the characters by name, and can give little or no details about any character.	Very Good Student can identify two or more characters by name and can give some details about at least one of them.	Excellent Student can identify all characters by name and can give specific details about them, and can determine which characters are the major characters and which characters are minor characters.
Exposition The "who, when, where, and what" part of the drama	Needs Improvement Student can identify 1 or no exposition elements of the drama.	Fair Student can identify 2 of the exposition elements of the drama.	Very Good Students can identify 3 of the exposition elements of the drama.	Excellent Student can identify all 4 of the exposition elements of the drama.
Conflict The internal or external struggle between opposing forces, ideas, or interests that creates dramatic tension	Needs Improvement Student cannot identify any problem in the drama.	Fair Student can identify one minor problem in the drama.	Very Good Student can identify more than 1 problem in the drama.	Excellent Student can identify the major problem in the drama.
