Fair Student can only identify one of the characters by name, and can give little or no details them.	Very Good Student can identify the characters by name and can give some details them.	Excellent Student can identify all characters by name and can give specific details about them.
Setting	Needs Improvement Student cannot identify where or when the story takes place.	Fair Student can identify where and when the story takes place, but cannot give any details about it.	Very Good Student can identify where and when the story takes place and can give at least one detail each of them.	Excellent Student can identify where and when the story takes place and can give two or more details about them.
Conflict	Needs Improvement Student cannot identify any problem in the story.	Fair Student can identify one minor problem in the story.	Very Good Student can identify more than 1 problem in the story.	Excellent Student can identify the major problem in the story.
