Novel Predictions and making Connections 
This rubric will assess students ability to effectively predict future events that may happen in the novel. Students will select appropriate images to represent events that have happened thus far in the novel, as well as possible future events. Descriptions for images are one well formulated sentence long and accurately match the image.

Level 1: Not Quite There Yet

Student shows little understanding of the events that have occurred thus far in the novel.
The student's predictions are not quite relevant.

Images do not connect to events thus far in the novel.
Level 2: Getting There

Student provides some accurate ideas about what has occurred in the novel thus far, but the ideas are basic and expected. The student's predictions are somewhat evidence based and realistic.

Images show some connection between events. Future images are very generic and vague.
Level 3: You Are On Your Way

Student provides 3 accurate descriptions of main events that have occurred thus far in the novel. Images selected show clear connections to text.
Future prediction images selected match descriptions and predictions are relevant, plausible.
Level 4: Got It!

Student provides 3 accurate key events that have occurred thus far in the novel. Images selected are supported by textual information they have already gathered from the book (pictures, title, etc.).
Future prediction images are thought provoking and descriptions are concise and plausible.
Student uses text for suport

Level 1: Not Quite There Yet

Student uses text incorrectly or uses no texts to support predictions.

Student's descriptions are more than one sentence and/or sentence fragments.
Level 2: Getting There

Student starts using some text to support predictions but more detail is needed.

Student's descriptions are one sentence long and/or a run-on sentence.
Sentences match the images.
Level 3: You Are On Your Way

Student clearly uses text to support predictions and details are provided.

Student descriptions meet the criteria provided, and are well developed and proper sentences.

Sentences show clear connection to image.
Level 4: Got It!

Student uses appropriate text selections to support predictions and details are provided.

student descriptions meet the criteria provided, are concise, contain no grammatical errors.

Student's images and sentences have no specific order and is difficult to follow.

Student's images are clearly organized in a meaningful way. Title accurately reflects the assignment.

Student clearly organizes both images and descriptor sentences, which flow nicely. Student presents information in a visually aesthetic manner that engages the reader. A creative, outside of the box title is included. Great use of space on the document page.
