Journal Entry Rubric
	Exemplary 3 pts	Proficient 2 pts	Striving 1 pts
Content	Exemplary The prompt is responded to fully by students answering the question, giving more than one example as support. Details are shared to make the reader understand the ideas the student is trying to get across.	Proficient The prompt is answered somewhat by the student completing one of the following two: answer to the question, an example for support, Students may have also been vague in their answer.	Striving Only the question was answered. No example were given to support the answer. No details are shared to help convey the message
Organization	Exemplary Ideas are organized logically and clearly, in a meaningful manner. Journal entry is in order. All are neatly organized with a date and topic.	Proficient The journal entry is organized but the ideas are not fluid.	Striving The journal entry is not in the required format. Ideas are random.
Sentence Structure	Exemplary It is obvious that the student made a strong attempt to spell correctly and use proper sentence structure and grammar.	Proficient Student checked for three and made a few grammatical errors.	Striving Student had many grammatical errors and/or counted fragments as sentences.
