Research and Content
Poor
Explanations of key concepts are incomplete or inaccurate. Listeners gain little knowledge of the topic from the presentation.
Fair
Provides some support for main points, but needed to elaborate further with explanations, examples, descriptions, etc. May appear not to have a full understanding of the topic.
Good
Depth of content reflects knowledge and understanding of the topic. Provided accurate explanation of key concepts. All members of the group appear to be an expert on the subject.
Preparedness
Poor
The group seemed unprepared and unrehearsed. Students did not seem to know or understand their content and primarily read from their notes or visual aids.
Fair
The group seemed to have practiced and/or planned ahead, but more rehearsal was needed. Some members of the group seemed to know their content, while some may have relied a bit too heavily on notes.
Good
It was obvious from the ease of the presentation that the group had rehearsed and was prepared for the presentation. All members of the group knew their content and they were not tied to their notes or visual aids.
Overall Presentation
Poor
Spoke less than 4 minutes.
One group member seemed to dominate the presentation.
The students appeared quite nervous, had little eye contact with the audience and/or few, if any, gestures and facial expressions were made while presenting.
Presentation did not capture the attention of the audience.
Fair
Spoke fluently for more than 5 minutes.
One group member may have participated more than others.

All group member were given equal time to present.

relaxed, established eye contact with audience and occasionally gestured and showed expression while speaking.
Presentation was engaging and insightful.
Voice and Fluency
Poor
Monotone or inappropriate variation of vocal characteristics. Excessive fluency errors interfered with message comprehension.
Fair
Limited variation of vocal characteristics. Use of rate, pitch, volume and tone seemed inconsistent at times. Few noticeable errors in pronunciation, enunciation and articulation.
Good
Natural variation of vocal characteristics (rate, pitch, volume, tone) in Standard English to heighten interest and match message. Appropriate pronunciation, enunciation and articulation.
Visual Aid
Poor
Visual aid may be missing, irrelevant or distracting. It lacks effort and cohesion, is visually displeasing to the eye and is poorly made with numerous, distracting errors.
Fair
Visual aid offers some support of the topic, although it may not enhance it. It may show a lack of effort and/or may be visually displeasing. Includes some visual representations of the topic, although their relevance may be unclear.
It may contain some grammatical errors and/or occasionally be difficult to read.
Good
Visual aid effectively supports and enhances the presentation. It is pleasing to the eye, shows effort and creativity, and includes strong visual representations of the topic. It is well-made, easy to read and free of grammatical errors.
