The Great Hero Paper Rubric 
This is an MLA, 5+ paragraph format essay. Students are to prove the greatest mythological hero of all time by taking the hero through one of the hero patterns and also by showing an appropriate literary device (or more) that also supports this idea (archetype, theme, symbolism, etc.)

Intro: Essay should include an introduction to the prompt, a brief summary of the hero & myth explored as well as a thorough thesis statement, including essay purpose as well as points made within the essay body.
Body: Each should cover a point to be made that was introduced in the thesis statement & follow the PEAL structure appropriately.
Conclusion: Include a thorough summary of the all the points made within the paper and a final statement of the essay purpose.

Conventions & MLA formatting

Spelling, Grammar, Mechanics, Style, Organization, etc. are all important. Watch especially subject-verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent agreement, verb tense, and comma use. Be sure you are using the correct voice. This is a formal paper! No use of "I" or "You" is permitted! Margins, organization, spacing, font, title, heading, etc. all play a part in the MLA format of the paper.
