Mythic Elements Essay
Write a five-paragraph essay in MLA format. The essay should address one of two prompts: 1. Choose a myth that we've read, and explain how that myth portrays the themes/ideals from its culture. 2. Choose a god/goddess from Greek mythology and explain how this being embodies concepts from Greek life. Things to consider in your essay: What is he/she a god/goddess of? What function does he/she serve in society? How is he/she viewed by humanity? Use examples from specific myths.

The Great Hero Paper Rubric
This is an MLA, 5+ paragraph format essay. Students are to prove the greatest mythological hero of all time by taking the hero through one of the hero patterns and also by showing an appropriate literary device (or more) that also supports this idea (archetype, theme, symbolism, etc.)

Graphic Novel Analysis Group Presentation
Gods, Goddesses and Superheroes class reads a graphic novel, does an analysis on their individual novels and then compares answers in a group. Then, the groups present comparisons of analysis to the class. This is the rubric for the presentation.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY
Choose one of the GREAT EXPECTATION prompts from the Prompt page and write a five paragraph essay utilizing five-paragraph essay structure. Your essay should be typed and in MLA format. Attach this rubric to your essay if your essay is turned in in hard copy format.

Five Paragraph Essay for ROMEO & JULIET
Prompt: Choose a form of symbolism discussed in class that is found in ROMEO & JULIET. Explain the symbolism and give at least three specific examples found in the text that shows how that type of symbolism works within the play. Write five paragraphs for this. The introductory paragraph should contain a solid thesis statement and should give a thorough explanation of the chosen symbolism. Each of the three body paragraphs should give an example and explain in detail how that example relates to the symbolism. Transition sentences should flow well between paragraphs. The concluding paragraph should summarize all the examples and tie all main points back to the essay purpose. The essay should have exemplary grammar throughout.

Writing a Test Essay Based on ROMEO & JULIET
Prompt: Choose a form of symbolism found in Romeo and Juliet. Explain the symbolism and give at least three specific examples from the text of how the symbolism works throughout the play. Remember to give page references for the examples and to tell who said the lines. This essay is to have a solid thesis sentence, a body that follows the thesis and a conclusion that summarizes the things you spoke of within the essay.
