Inanimate Object Character Monologue Character and Characterization Monologue Choose an object you think you can turn into a character. Experiment with possible voices and movement. Perform a short Monologue for your character by having an activity for your character to perform. Be sure to change your voice, your movements and speak how the characters feels. Grade 3's create a second character and with a parent or sibling create a short scene between the two characters. Bodily Adjustments	Level 4 Movements and vocal choices are changed to reflect those of the chosen character.<BR> <BR> Anyone familiar with the character can recognize him or her from the first movement.	Level 3 Movements and vocal choices begin to resemble those of the chosen character.<BR> <BR> After a little bit, the audience may begin to recognize the character.	Level 2 Movements and vocal choices occasionally resemble the character but mostly come from the actor/actress's own mannerisms.<BR> <BR> The audience has a hard time recognizing the character.	Level 1 Movements and vocal choices are exclusively those of the actor/actress. <BR> <BR> The audience has no idea who the character might be.
Physical States	Level 4 The state of your character is illustrated through action and activity. The audience sees how you feel by how you perform tasks.<BR> <BR> A clear activity has been chosen.	Level 3 The state of your character is illustrated through action. The audience gets a vague sense of how your character feels.	Level 2 The state of your character is illustrated through cliché movements that tell rather than show how your character feels.<BR> <BR> The audience doesn't believe your character.	Level 1 The state of your character is not illustrated. You do not seem to have any emotional affect or to have much feeling at all.
Preparation	Level 4 The monologue is short and concise, it can be performed as a logical monologue. It contains all required elements (voice, movements, characterization)	Level 3 The monologue is short and concise with a few minor errors. It contains most elements (voice, movements, characterization)	Level 2 The monologue has some of the required elements (voice, movements, characterization)	Level 1 The monologue makes little or no sense and is missing many elements (voice, movements, characterization).
