Students will work towards SOLS AI.1, AI.3, AI.6, AI.8, AI.10, AII.9, AIII.10, AI.12, AI.13, AI.14, AI.15, AI.17, AII.1, AII.3, AII.5, AII.6, AII.7, AII.9, AII.10, AII.11, AII.14, AII.15, AII.16, AII.17, AII.18, AIII.1, AIII.3, AIII.6, AIII.7, AIII.8, AIII.13, AIII.14, AIII.16, AIII.17 by using clay vocabulary, using art history related to gargoyles, and creating a gargoyle or mythical creature.

Students will create their own mythical creature and build a cohesive "folk tale" using the creature as the central character. Students will also create a short movement phrase interpreting the physicality of the creature.

Students use assigned elements and principles of design with a theme to create a design for a client that they then need to present to their classmates

After the Elements and Principles of Art unity you will be asked to be to name all the elements and principles of art as well as know, describe, and demonstrate examples. In this assessment students will work on demonstrating the Elements and Principles by drawing and using materials in the classroom. While students are working they will be called up one by one and be asked to name and give examples of each element and principle.
