Background	Good Background has mountains, hills, etc. All objects are drawn smaller here and with less detail (because they are further away).	Fair Background has simple mountain shapes. Most of the objects are drawn smaller here and with less detail (because they are further away).	Poor Background is too simple. Few, if any, of the objects are drawn smaller here and with less detail (because they are further away).
Middle Ground	Good Middle ground has a planned shape or shapes of hills, trees, and water (i.e river or lake). All objects are an appropriate size (smaller than foreground objects, but larger than background objects).	Fair Middle ground has a few shapes that describe a few hills, trees and water (i.e. river or lake). Most objects are an appropriate size (smaller than foreground objects, but larger than background objects).	Poor Middle ground has no shapes that describe hills, trees and water (i.e. river or lake).
Foreground	Good Many objects are present in the foreground. These objects are detailed and well thought out. All objects are the largest here (because they are closest to the viewer).	Fair A few objects are present in the foreground. Some of the objects contain detail and seem well thought out. Some objects are the largest here (because they are closest to the viewer). Surreal Elements	Good Student included at least 5 (or more) surreal elements in his/her landscape.	Fair Student included 3-4 surreal elements in his/her landscape.	Poor Student included 2 or fewer surreal elements in his/her landscape.
Neat, Clean, & Complete	Good Drawing is neat, clean, and complete. Artist has taken their time and their hardwork shows. No folds, tears, and bends in paper, no unwanted marks and/or smudges.	Fair Some attempt at making the drawing neat, clean, and complete. There are a few areas that are inadequate or unfinished. Folds, tears, and/or bends in paper, some unwanted marks and/or smudges.
