Student will research a given artist and display information on a poster board.

Submit research paper of specified page limits typed on paper, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font following CMS guidelines. Include a title, endnotes, and bibliography citing at least 5 resources used researching the paper (exclusive of assigned texts and articles). Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

Students will create a circus figure inspired by Calder's circus figures.

The student will create a relief printmaking block using carved styrafoam. The student will print an edition of 5 signed, numbered, and dated prints.

A creative collage composition with emphasis

In this lesson, we will be drawing from observation for the purposes of establishing positive and negative space within the picture plane. Students will choose an area of the room to focus on and draw the positive and negative spaces. Students will model the Positive objects using Contour lines, and tone. Negative space does not have to be a dark black, but at least 3 different tones as well.

Students are to drawing from observation using a still-life that was set up in class. Drawing was set in stages from gesture, to contour, to adding value.

Students will create an edition of 10-15 color relief prints + artists proofs.
