Students are to write a Free Verse Poem

Lesson unit focusing on standards that relate to learning vocab in context, foreshadowing, and flashback. Theme of survival is also assessed.

Students are to write a short story that demonstrates their understanding of the stages of plot and the characteristics of a short story. Students must include a conflict, and inferencing.

The students will create a newspaper with 3 articles based on the information they have obtained about the American Revolution. The newspaper should include a Revolutionary War Figure, a Revolutionary War Battle, and an article on Revolutionary War weapons and tactics. The articles should be in an organizational pattern, with nonfiction text structure, and must include a test question with the answer.

Students will create an ad incorporating persuasive techniques and language

Your task is to create an advertising campaign for the product you chose. This ad needs to reach the audience who reads the magazine you chose and make the reader want to buy the product.

Compare and Contrast 2 folktales from different cultures.

This rubric is created to asses in writing a short story project. The students will show their understanding about the characteristics of short story and they will choose the topic of their own short story freely.

To create a biography about a scientist, using any organizational text pattern.

The students will put together a display to show during their oral presentation. It will contain information that the students collected regarding the development of religion. The group presentation must be aligned with the display.

Students compile original poetry done in class showcasing the use of imagery, sound effects and rhyming, etc. Poems showcase various poetry styles learned.

Students must create a book on figurative language (idioms, similes, and metaphors). Books must contain type of figurative language, definitions of each type of language, examples, and an accurate illustration of each.

Students will write their own unique version of a folktale

Write a 5-10 minute one-act play with at least two scenes. Must include descriptive stage directions and an exciting plot which conveys a clear theme. Must also include a relevant, well-described setting, character development and meaningful dialogue, and must be presented in the prescribed format: double-spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman. May be neatly handwritten with prior teacher approval.

You will analyze a poem to identify and label examples of alliteration, onomatopoeia, repetition, internal rhyme, and the rhyme scheme.
