The Wheel: A Tableware Set
Students are to create a set of 4 cylindrical vessels (two bowls, two cups), using the potter's wheel. Style and theme are up to the student, but all 4 pieces should match in size and shape and should follow a common theme that matches your story spoons.

Color Wheel Project Rubric
After a review of the color wheel by the teacher, the student will create a color wheel on paper. The student will correctly mix and paint the correct colors on the color wheel in the correct position. In addition to the primary, secondary and tertiary colors the points of the color will contain the tint and the shade of each color.

Ceramic Pinch Pot Monster/Fish
The students make a pinch pot style ceramic Monster. or Fish Body will be made using pinch pot method, and details will be added. Details must be on the inside and outside of the pinchpot, and there must be a texture incorporated into the design.

Value- Shaded Still-Life
This is an assignment to teach the student the power of shading values, by drawing a still life. Shadows make parts of the artwork appear to go back. Highlights bring other parts toward us. A gradient is a subtle change from shadows to highlights. Gradients done right give the appearance of 3D forms, not just shapes.

Skeleton Triptych
Student is to draw a cropped skeleton triptych in pencil, outline in sharpie with line variation, and add a watercolor gradation to the background (negative space). Each square should consist of 80% bones and 20% negative space. Background should be filled with "Day of the Dead" inspired symbols or designs.

Drawing Hands using Sign Language
Practice drawing your hands life-size in contour with pencil using sign language hand gestures. 6 different continuous lines hands that intersect with eachother and fill the composition. Consider the interior and exterior lines, adding as much detail as possible. Trace contour lines with sharpie. Paint separate analogous background on 12x 18" paper using washable markers, transparency film, and posterboard.

"Set your intention" hidden word tile
Students will set and intention for their future. Choosing one word to represent this intention, they will create a radial design hidden word tile.

Line Drawing Exercise.
Draw in contour at least two hands in an expressive position. Cross contour lines then should be added to express the form of the hands. Give little or no attention to value. Pay attention to the accuracy of your drawing with correct proportions. Students will demonstrate (5) line qualities within an assessment: contour, blind contour, bold, crosshatching, and contour hatching.
