Layout
Excellent

Good
The Mandala is well drawn and represents an stencil shape with the correct number of spaces for the colors, and most of the slices meet up to create radial symmetry.
Satisfactory
The Mandala is drawn in an stencil shape, but many of the slices don't meet up. Some of the slices are bigger than others.
Needs Improvement
The Mandala is poorly drawn and slices are not the correct size, nor do any of the slice designs meet up to create symmetry.
Use of at least 4 colors
Excellent
Student used more than 4 colors and went above and beyond mixing new unique color combinations.
Good
Student used more than 4 different colors but did not deviate from color wheel colors.
Satisfactory
Student used 4 colors.
Needs Improvement
Student used less than 4 colors.
Color mixing: Tints and shades
Excellent
All colors have been mixed exceptionally well and all tints/shades have matching intensity.
Good
Colors have been mixed adequately according to their hue. Most tints and shades match in intensity.
Satisfactory
Colors have been mixed, but are not true to their hue. Most tints and shade intensities dont match.
Needs Improvement
Colors have not been mixed correctly and tints and shades are mixed too dark or too light compared to others.
Craftmanship
Excellent
Painting is exceptionally neat. There are no paint smudges on the outside of the painting, all edges are clean and smooth. Each coat of paint is applied solidly with no streaks or uneven patches. No white spots are showing.
Good
Painting is neat with minor smudges. Edges are pretty smooth and some spots of color could use an extra coat of paint. Few white spots show through.
Satisfactory
Overall painting is somewhat messy and some paint extends outside shapes. Edges are somewhat smooth. Paint smudges and marks around mandala are evident.
Needs Improvement
Student rushed through project and overall painting is not neat. Mandala appears messy and smudgy, paint extending far outside of the designated shape. Paper is wrinkled, rolled, or ripped and there are many extraneous marks and mess ups around Mandala.

Good
