Nonperforming Student cannot list any of the characteristics of living things.
Understanding of Characteristics	Mastery Student is able to provide examples for all 7 of the characteristics of life. The examples required much thought and are unique.	Proficiency Student is able to provide examples for 5-6 characteristics of life. The examples are detailed but consisted of only those discussed in class.	Apprentice Student is able to provide examples for 4 characteristics of life. Some of the examples were unclear, lacked in detail, or were the same as mentioned in class.	Novice Student is able to provide examples for 1-3 characteristics of life. Student is unable to identify clear examples, is lacking in most/all detail, and/or were the same as mentioned in class.	Nonperforming Student is unable to provide any examples for the characteristics of life.
