preparation/participation 20 pts	Poor Student does not show they are prepared, and does not participate.	Fair Student participation is below par, and shows lack of knowledge of subject material.	Good Student works well and participates in the newscast. They appear prepared and rehersed.	Excellent Student achieves desired effects as they are well rehersed and take an active role in the newscast.
Well written script/Content 20 pts	Poor Script and content are not stream lined and appear to be thrown together.	Fair Script and content serves very little purpose.	Good Script and content are organized.	Excellent Both script and content are well organized and contain all necessary portions of an actual newcast.
Eye Contact/Tone 20 pts	Poor Student makes no eye contact with camera and speaks in a monotone pattern. Cannot be heard.	Fair Students use of eye contact techniques need work, it is a struggle to hear them.	Good Eye contact is made and student is easily heard.	Excellent Student adds personality matching the content of the newscast. They do this through proper eye contact and emotional dialect and tone.

Good Understands content and poetic devices; identifies implicit and explicit media messages through these devices.	Excellent Understands and uses poetic devices, and uses them on a deeper level than the surface. Time was taken to make sure these devices were strong and delivered well.
