Spelling and Punctuation	Excellent No grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors. Typing correctly follows the prescribed format. 25 points	Very Good One to four grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors. Typing follows format. 20 points	Good Five to seven grammatical spelling, or punctuation errors. Typing is basically acceptable. 15 points	Fair Eight to ten grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors. Typing strays from format. 10 points	Poor More than ten grammatical, spelling, or punctuational errors. Typing is not acceptable by format. 5 points
Response to Prompt	Excellent Presents a clearly focused main idea that addresses prompt. 10 points	Very Good Uses the writing prompt to establish a main idea. 8 points	Good Addresses the prompt, though the focus may shift. 6 points	Fair Attempts to address prompt but with little or no success in establishing a focus. 4 points	Poor Does not attempt to address prompt 2 points
