Directing Directing Students are assessed on their ability to interpret a scene from a play, block the scene appropriately with correct stage directions, and provide actors with direction to perform the scene effectively. Preparation	Exceeding Standard Scene was exceptionally well-prepared. The scene showed it was rehearsed, polished and controlled with insight.	Meeting Standard Scene was adequately prepared. The scene showed it was rehearsed and was smoothly performed.	Approaching Standard Scene lacked in preparedness. The scene was somewhat choppy and slightly off in delivery.	In Need of Improvement Scene was unprepared.
Performance	Exceeding Standard Performance was excellent. Actors were well-chosen and directed thoughtfully. Scene showed the director understood the scene and was able to convey the emotions and motivations of the characters.	Meeting Standard Performance was acceptable. Actors were well chosen and directed adequately. Scene showed director understood the scene but was only somewhat able to convey the emotions and motivations of the characters.	Approaching Standard Performance was somewhat acceptable. Actors may have not been well chosen or more likely, not directed well. Scene may have shown the director had some misconceptions about the scene and/or the emotions and motivations of the characters were obscure.	In Need of Improvement Performance was not acceptable.
