The artwork is not only described, but most descriptive elements of the work are analyzed to construct and understand the meaning of the art, and the intent of the artist.
Meets at a Proficient Level 3.5
The Artwork is well analyzed (as in 3.2 level) The artwork is also compared to other relevent contemporary work or earlier work in order to understand the influences of the artist.
Meets a a high/very high level 3.8+
The Analysis of the artwork is comprehensive - covering all major points and making the connections to other artists and time periods - both by comparison and contrast.

Essay is less than 2 pages long, is not well organized and contains many grammatical and spelling errors.
Meets at a Basic Level 3.2
Essay is 2 pages long and is fairly well organized. It contains very few grammatical and spelling errors.
