Social Studies working Community Diorama/Poster/Fact Book 
Students have been learning about types of working/living communities (i.e.: Mining, forrestry, fishing, arctic, etc). Our project now, is to build a shoebox diorama showcasing a community. Community should include at least one each of transportation, location, peoplee, work/school, activities, and environment, based on research done previously.

Diorama/poster/fact book has only one thing that can be found in a community and/or includes unnecessary aspects not found in their community. It appears that only a small amount of work went into creating this.
level 2

Diaorama/poster/fact book has only 2-3 things that can be found in a community. It appears that only a bit of work went into creating this. More emphasis was put into background features that do not help identify their community.

Diorama/poster/fact book has only 4-5 things that can be found in a community. Quite a bit of work went into creating this, but important aspects were missing.

Diaorama/poster/fact book shows all 6 items needed from research. The topic is clearly identifiable. Teacher can tell that a lot of work went into creating this.

Student needed little prompting to find information in research books. Student copied information from the books, but was able to recall with leading questions and able to decipher what was necessary to be included in their diorama/poster/fact book.

Student has put research into their own words. Writing is well organized and detailed. Student used more detail/information than was required.
Presentation

level 1

The student was able to repeat the sentences for the presentation with prompting. Voice was low, or mumbling, student did not look up from their paper at all.
level 2

It was a little hard to understand what the student wrote about. They were able to explain some of their project, and needed some prompting to read their sentences. Voice was low or unclear in places.
level 3

Student spoke clearly with few mistakes or stops. Student was able to read presentation without prompting.
level 4

The student was able to articulate their writing clearly.They were able to read with confidence. They added details while they presented over and above what was written in their presentation.
