Main Idea	Excellent Student response is complete, specific, and correct.	Good Student response is accurate, but not complete.	Fair Student response is not correct, but is attempted.	Poor Student response gives details instead of main idea.	Off topic/Incomplete Student did not attempt to respond to the item.
Supporting Details	Excellent Student response includes at least 5 key paraphrased or correctly quoted details from the passage that support the main idea of the passage.	Good Student response includes 3-4 key details that support the main idea of the passage. Some or all are paraphrased or quoted correctly.	Fair Student response included at least 2 details, with at least one key detail from the passage that supports the main idea of the passage. Some or all details are copied directly instead of paraphrased from the text.	Poor Student response includes at least 1 detail, but it doesn't support the main idea. Most or all are copied from the text or incorrectly quoted.	Off topic/Incomplete Student did not provide any details OR Student did not attempt to respond to the item.
