Therapeutic Recreation Special Event Project

Interns will be given the opportunity to take charge of the planning of one of the monthly events or theme days held on one of our units. This includes planning, creating an invitation/flyer, promoting the event, decorating, and implementing the special event.

TR Special Project Interns will be given the opportunity to take charge of the planning of one of the monthly events or theme days held on one of our units. This includes planning, creating an invitation/flyer, promoting the event, decorating, and implementing the special event.
	Poor 5 pts	Fair 13 pts	Excellent 20 pts
Planning 25 % Planning that occurs before the event.	Poor Intern plans event ineffectively, not taking many factors such as population, time, space and adaptations into account. The theme is not appropriate or relevant.	Fair Intern plans event somewhat effectively, taking some aspects of population, time, space and adaptation into account. Theme is somewhat relevant.	Excellent Intern plans event effectively, taking into consideration the population, time available, space needed, possible adaptations, etc. Theme of party or day is relevant.
Budget 10 % Management of budget	Poor Intern goes over budget, and spends money inappropriately.	Fair Intern stays within budget, but spends money on some things that are not appropriate, OR spends money on appropriate items but goes slightly over budget.	Excellent Intern stays within budget, and manages money well - only spending money on items that are needed and will add to the integrity of the event.
Promotion of the event 5 % Event promotion	Poor Event is not promoted well, and relevant information is not given to TR staff, residents or interdisciplinary team.	Fair Event is somewhat promoted - reaching some members of the TR staff, residents and IDT.	Excellent Event is promotes among TR staff, interdisciplinary team, and residents in advance and on the day-of. Intern promotes event with enthusiasm, and gives details about what's to come.
Flyer/Invitation 5 % Information conveyed on the flyer or the invitation	Poor Flyer or invitation has many design flaws and does not include the most relevant information. It is not distributed appropriately.	Fair The flyer or invitation includes most relevant information, and may have design flaws. It is distributed to appropriate sources.	Excellent The flyer or invitation includes all relevant information, is designed well, and is distributed to appropriate sources and displayed within the facility.
Decorations 5 % Decoration of the unit for the event	Poor Decorations do not compliment the theme and/or are not age appropriate.	Fair Decorations somewhat compliment the theme and are age appropriate.	Excellent Decorations compliment the theme and are age appropriate.
Execution 25 % Execution of the event	Poor The party or theme day does not go well, with many areas of improvement noted.	Fair The party or theme day is good, but there are definite areas where it could have been improved.	Excellent The party or theme day general goes well. Any hiccups are ironed out easily and in a stress-free manor.
Team Work 25 % Ability of individual to work as a part of an internship team or the TR team	Poor Intern does not work well with other interns or staff. Lack of openness, input, delegation, and overall communication are evident.	Fair Intern mostly works well with other interns or staff. Could use improvement in one or more of the following areas: inviting input, delegating responsibilities appropriately, communicating well, inputting own ideas into the event.	Excellent Intern works well with other interns or staff members to plan and execute the event. Invites input, delegates responsibilities appropriately, communicates well, and has obvious input into the event.
