This rubric is created to asses in writing a short story project. The students will show their understanding about the characteristics of short story and they will choose the topic of their own short story freely but must include all of the Wordnik Words and show understanding of definitions.

Use of Wordnik Words	Excellent All Wordnik Words have been used in the short story. Appropriate (meaning), creative or humorous use of the words is very apparent.	Good All Wordnik Words have been used in the short story. Some appropriateness and creativity/humour is apparent in the use of the words.	Fair Some Wordnik Words are missing from the short story. Appropriate use, creativity and/or humour is lacking.	Poor Some Wordnik Words have been used in the short story but their use in context does not make sense.
Plot	Excellent Presents events that create a clear narrative. There is a clear beginning, middle and end. The student has clearly reviewed and incorporated the 5 elements of PLOT in the short story.	Good Presents sequence of events. There is a beginning, middle and end. The student has demonstrated some understanding of the 5 elements of PlOT.	Fair Presents a confusing sequence of events. There is no clear beginning, middle or end. The student has not demonstrated an understanding of the 5 elements of PLOT>	Poor Presents no logical order, no sequence of events.
