Three Maps About Me Project

This project requires the development and construction of three different types of maps, connected to specific aspects of the student's life (i.e. route to school, family vacation/trip, topographical map of neighborhood, a political map showing family cultural background, etc.).

Title 10 pts	Exemplary The title and description creatively and clearly communicates the topic and purpose of the map.	Accomplished The title describes the main idea, topic and purpose of the map.	Developing The map has a title and description, but the topic or purpose of the map is not very clear.	Beginning The map is missing a title or its topic and/or purpose is unclear.
Elements 25 pts	Exemplary All map elements are included and appropriate for the content and enhance the interpretation of EACH MAP. (TOADS) - title, orientation, author, date, symbols/scale) Might also show: absolute and relative location; lines of latitude and longitude; benchmark lines, such as, equator or prime meridian, degrees; or grid system. topographical symbols, etc.)	Accomplished Necessary map elements are included (TOADS) and are correct.	Developing Some map elements (TOADS)are included but are incorrect, causing lack of support for the interpretation of the map.	Beginning Map elements (TOADS) are missing or incorrect.

Developing Creativity is lacking and doesn’t enhance the content and/or purpose of the map. Creative elements may distract from the content or purpose.	Beginning No creative elements are included, or the types of creative elements used are inappropriate or distract from the content and/or purpose of the map.
Presentation 10 pts	Exemplary All text is spelled and capitalized correctly, straight and same size within each section or label. Coloring and/or shading is neat and in the same direction, borders or boundaries are outlined and sharp, paper is not torn or folded, Appropriate medium was chosen.
