A summary and critique of an article concerning an assigned topic or issue. Students are required to read the article, summarize the key parts of the article, critique the article read, and present as a oral presentation.

Summary of Article

Poor

The student's understanding of the article is incomplete or has so many misconceptions that the student cannot be said to understand the topic.
Good

The student has a complete understanding of the information in the article that is important but has not included some of the key points and/or supporting details.
Very Good

The student has a complete and detailed understanding of the article. Has highlighted key points and appropriate supporting details.
Critique of Article

Poor

The student does not construct a clear judgement about the article, or constructs one that is not at all supported by the specifics submitted.
Good

The student constructs a judgement about the article that has some relationship to the specifics, but the specifics do not totally support the generalization.
Very Good

The student constructs a valid judgement about the article and clearly explains, based on specifics (content, conclusions, etc.) identified from the article.
Presentation "Broadcast"

Poor

The presentation lacks creativity and originality and does not maintain the attention of the audience.
Good

The presentation is original but lacks creativity, but maintains the attention of the audience
Very Good

The presentation both creative and original and maintains the attention of the audience.
4-Level Reflection

Poor

The student does not include all levels of the reflection model.
Good

The student includes all levels of the reflection model, but lacks specific detail.
Very Good

The student includes all levels of the reflection model and provides specific detail for each.
