Retelling Rubric Retelling Rubric Student is able to retell the events of the story in in sequence. Students can name the main characters and use examples in their retell. Developing The student identifies the main characters of the story but does not offer detail into their individual characteritics.	Established The student identifies the characters of the story and is able to provide information so that non-readers understand the purpose of the story.
Retell in Sequence	Emerging The student is unable to retell the story but requires redirection and prompts to continue the story. Sequence of events is not be followed.	Developing The student is able to retell the story but sequence is confused. Details to the story are missing.	Established The student can retell the story in sequence.
Presentation	Emerging The student retells the story with little expression, fluency was not apparent and audience interaction was lacking.	Developing The student is able to retell the story with minimal expression, information was accurate but not delivered easily, did not completely engage audience questions.	Established The student is able to retell the story with expression, fluency and audience interaction. Used gestures, facial expressions and vocal control to retell story.
Descriptiveness/Setting	Emerging The student provides minimal detail when retelling the story, leaving out many significant events.	Developing The student provides a lot of detail when retelling the story, leaving out no significant events and does not develop setting with descriptiveness.	Established The student provides a significant amount of detail when retelling the story and leaves out no events. Allowing the listener to develop a mental picture of setting.
