Using Assigned Notes & Rests	Proficient Student has included time signature and has set up the staff correctly. Student has included more than 5 of the required notation; rests are not overused. Students composes 24 measures without repeats.	Basic Student has included at least 3 of the required notation; rests are not overused. Student composes 16 measures without repeats.	Poor Student has included little of the required notation or has not used the notation correctly failing to complete the measures as directed.
Performance	Proficient Student plays composition with correct rhythms. Student plays together with group and uses correct tempo and rhythms.	Basic Student plays composition with most rhythms correct. Student has trouble staying with the group.	Poor Student plays composition with few rhythms and pitches correct.
Teamwork	Proficient Student stays on task all of the time. Group members can count on this person.	Basic Student stays on task most of the time. Group members must sometimes remind this person to do the work.	Poor Student hardly ever stays on task. Lets others do the work.
Neatness	Proficient Student has used a straight edge and a pencil. Student has used all the rules of music notation including note heads and stem positions. Bar lines are used correctly.
