Animal Simple Report

Students are selecting an animal, researching and writing about their animal. The report should tell about where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, and any interesting fun facts about their animal. Students will write their report notes on pre-printed word webs and then write a simple report.

Animals' Habitat	Limited Gives little (1-2) or no details about where the animal is found and includes very few facts about the animals habitiat.	Good Gives 3-4 details about where the animal is found in the world and/or too general.	Excellent Gives 5+ details about where in the world the animal is found, and tells many specific facts about it's habitat.
Animals' Life Cycle/Breeding	Limited Gives little (1-2) or no interesting facts about the animal.	Good Give one or two interesting facts about the chosen animal.	Excellent Student has given three or more interesting facts about their chosen animal.
Animal's Food/Hunting	Limited Lists 1-2 simple items that the animal eats, could be general to all animals.	Good Lists 3-4 appropriate items that the animal eats.	Excellent Lists 5+specific items that the animal eats.
Vital Statistics, Behavior	Limited Description of animal is inaccurate or does not give any important details.	Good Gives a brief description of animal (3-5) and/or leaves out a couple of important features.	Excellent Gives an accurate description (5+) about the animal and it's unique behaviors
Fun Facts added	Limited Gives little (1-3) or irrelevant facts about the animal.	Good Gives 3-5 interesting, fun facts about the chosen animal.	Excellent Student has at least 5 interesting fun facts about their chosen animal.
Organization	Limited Facts are not organized into paragraphs.	Good Paragraphs are evident, some information may/may not fit.	Excellent All paragraghs are organized with appropriate details and topic/closing sentences.
Grammar and Spelling	Limited Very frequent grammar and/or spelling errors which interferes with the flow of the piece.	Good Student has a few spelling and/or grammar errors, which occasionally interrupts the flow of the piece.	Excellent Student has little spelling and/or grammar errors, making it easy for the reader to move through the piece.
