the outside is missing no more than 2 elements, or one element and is messy/directions not followed

The outside is missing no more than one element or the work is all there but is not neat

The outside of the case file includes: the name of student on the tab, the case file #, name of book, and author on front, and the name of the detective agency on back--the work must be neat

there is very little evidence and it is messy

There is some evidence or there is adequate evidence but it is messy

There is adequate evidence present and it is neat but there could be more evidence

On the inside right part of the folder, there are pieces of evidence that pertain to the mystery. These can be three-dimensional, photos, clip art, images printed from the computer or even drawn (as long as it is neat)

The are many spelling/grammar mistakes, the work is not the student's words, or it is not engaging at all to the reader.

The writing has significant spelling/grammar mistakes, or it does not sound like the student's words, may not be very engaging

The writing is good with some problems with grammar/spelling, it is the student's own words, and it is engaging

The writing involved is the student's own words, has very few spelling or grammar errors, and is engaging to the reader
