Build Your Own Instrument

Build an instrument that will make three pitches and can be heard from the back of the classroom. Perform a piece of music you composed with your instrument.

Performance	Poor Student didn't have anything composed to play or did not play something on the instrument.	Fair Student had a piece of music composed and followed the piece fairly well. The student looked as though they kind of knew what they were doing.	Good Student had a very creative piece of music composed and followed the piece without missing very many notes. The student looked as though they understood what to do.	Excellent Student had a very creative piece of music composed and followed the piece perfectly. The student performed with confidence and accuracy and I could definitely tell they knew what they were doing.
Sturdiness/Is it durable?	Poor You either didn't have an instrument or yours did not hold together at all. Please put in more effort next time.	Fair The instrument doesn't hold up through the whole performance, maybe you should have reinforced it some how.	Good The instrument holds up through most of the performance, but falls apart at the last minute.	Excellent The instrument holds up through the performance and then some.
Efficiency/Does it work?	Poor The instrument uses only one pitch and cannot be heard except for when standing next to the player.	Fair The instrument uses two to three pitches but can only be heard up close.	Good The instrument uses two pitches and when played can be heard from the back of the room, or has all three and can only be heard up close.
