Research Paper: these are the basic requirements for the 7-10 page research paper on a literary text of the author's choosing. It must be evaluative (takes a position). This is not a report; so it is not a summary. Summary may be used as part of evidence, but the purpose of this research paper is to synthesize. 80 points = 100%

It does not fully express the main topic. It provides a map for the reader.	Developing Thesis is missing or not a true thesis. Thesis does not relate to the paper or express the main position idea of the paper. The map is not present.	Emerging No thesis or main idea is stated. The map is not present.
Paragraphs: Mindful Communicator	Advanced Each paragraph flows to the next paragraph. Paragraphs follow a logical order. Paragraphs follow the map provided in thesis.Ideas are logically separated into paragraphs. Paragraphs are correctly indented.	Proficient Some paragraphs flow to the next paragraph. Most paragraphs follow a logical order. Paragraphs follow the map provided. Paragraphs are occasionally indented correctly.	Developing Paragraphs do not follow a logical order.
