This student puts in no effort with their final Swimmy activity. The students do not put in effort when it comes to their themes within the activity. Their paper lacks color, too.

The student has some color throughout their Swimmy activity but their work is unoriginal and almost boring. It lacks any creativity and inspiration.

The student puts in lots of effort but does not seem to use much creativity. Their unit work is done well.
Excellent

The student displays lots of creativity throughout their unit work. The Swimmy activity is bright and colorful, with details added to the fish. They also put in lots of effort throughout the project.
Grammar, Spelling, Word Choice

Poor

The student has multiple spelling and grammatical errors. Their writing lacks punctuation. Some words are used in the wrong context as well.
Fair

The student has multiple spelling and grammatical errors, but there are some examples of correct punctuation present.
Good

The student has minor grammatical and spelling errors. Their punctuation is used somewhat correct but still needs correction.
Excellent

The student has almost no spelling or grammatical errors, and their punctuation is done well.
Comprehension

Poor

The student did not understand the unit or the bigger picture of the story.
Fair

The student can somewhat understand the story and identify 1 of the main themes.
Good

The student fully understands the story and can identify 1-2 of the main themes
Excellent

The student fully understands the story, and they are able to identify multiple themes that are prevalent throughout Swimmy.
Writing Strategies

Poor

The student struggles with the writing prompt, and their paragraphs lack sentence structure. The student also does not plan out their writing.
Fair

The students writing pieces together and is partially understandable. They still lack sentence structure but their is some planning in place.
Good

The students sentences are well-written and have good structure although there is some sentences that are hard to read and make little to no sense.
Excellent

The students writing is well-written and their is lots of good sentence structure. The planning was useful and lead the student to success.
