Highlighting With Foils Students will be assessed on their ability to perform the highlighting skill with no prior training only a video aide as a visual tool.

Timeing	Poor not able to complete a head of foils in a reasonable set amount of time not able to determine length of lightening process (do I need to apply heat) does not upgrade volume of developer as needed	Good understands the need to be able to calculate processing time knows when and if needed to upgrade developer	Excellent able to complete a set of foils in the required time able to approximate processing time
Placement	Poor foils slipped not secured tightly enough to hair foils placed with no thought to outcome inconsistent weaving	Good understands the reasons of different weaving techniques such as slices, back to back foils understands the need for balance sectioning is neat and organized	Excellent able to enhance haircut by placing foils in appropriate places knows when to change weaving techniques (around hairline)
Color	Poor product bleeds onto scalp color not bended properly (banding) color is blotchy not enough product applied not able to use multiple colors properley	Good able to determine if foils are light/vibrant enough has understanding for the use of multiple colors is able to apply color close enough to root area	Excellent color is blended through from regrowth to existing highlights able to use multiple colors properley is able to correct any overlighting
Demonstrate comb Palming	Poor not able to palm the comb while foiling	Good understands how to palm the comb but still gets confused and struggles	Excellent able to palm the comb
