Brass Station Activity Brass Station Activity Objective: Students will describe the characteristics of the four main brass instruments through a station activity. Directions for each station: 1. Write down the instrument featured for the station. 2. Have one member read the passage about the instrument aloud. 3. As a group, discuss the reading and answer the questions on your sheet. Each person should individually write their responses on their own paper. 4. Look at the instrument. Touch the instrument carefully. Do NOT actually put your mouth on the mouthpiece! 5. Write down any comments or questions you have. 6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the next 3 stations. 7. Self assess on the rubric below and complete your habits of daily learning checklist. Instrument Exploration	Poor The student did not follow directions or did not participate.	Fair The student respectfully explored the instrument.	Good The student respectfully explored the instrument. The student notated observations and questions about the instrument.
Questions	Poor The student did not answer all of the questions or had 4 or more incorrect answers.	Fair The student answered all of the questions with few mistakes (1-3).	Good The student answered all of the questions correctly and legibly.
On Task	Poor The student was generally off task.	Fair The student generally stayed on task throughout the stations but may have needed redirection from a group member or teacher.	Good The student stayed on task throughout all of the stations.
