Book Talk Oral Presentation + Project 
Book Talk Rubric -Independent Reading Favorite Book Students will write and orally present a book talk on one of their favorite independent reading books. Students will persuade other students, by clearly and concisely piquing the interest of peers in a solid hook and focused and interesting summary that closes with a definite opinion with support for reading and enjoying the book. Colorful language and confident speaking will enhance your persuasion.

Includes a comprehensive summary of the plot covering all the key points regarding the character's conflict with exceptional clarity and obvious understanding of key information without giving away the ending. Shows the book and states the title and author.

Includes a good summary of the plot with good understanding of key information and character's conflict, without giving away the ending. Shows the class the book and states the title and author.
LEVEL 2

Includes a summary of the plot, but some points are missing or it's a little confusing, or character conflict is off. Understanding of what is key needs work. Shows the class the book and states the title and author.
LEVEL 1

No plot summary and/or no book brought to class and/or author or title presented. Other factors may be a lack of organization of information, a lack of understanding plot points, the conflict or the story.
Opinion and Recommendation

LEVEL 4

Includes an opinion on the book and detailed and specific reasons that support this opinion. Includes a specific and detailed recommendation for who would enjoy the book and why.

Includes an opinion on the book and gives reasons to support the opinion. Includes reasons for who would enjoy the book and why.
LEVEL 2

Includes an opinion and recommendation for the book, but does not explain why.

No opinion and/or recommendation.
