Introduction/Thesis Statement 10 pts Introduction and Rogerian Thesis statement	Excellent Very well developed introduction and Rogerian thesis statement. They engage the reader and create interest. The Rogerian thesis statement clearly states the opposing view first and then states the topic being argued and takes a stand.	Good The introduction and thesis statement are fairly well developed and are in the Rogerian order, somewhat. But they are not very engaging or creative.	Fair The introduction and thesis statement contains the topic being argued, but they may not take a clear stand or it is not in the Rogerian order.	Poor The introduction and thesis statement do not include what is being argued, and there is no clear stand taken.
Body Paragraphs 15 pts The author's established credibility	Excellent Author shows the reader that he or she understands both sides of the issue and all reasons are effectively supported by details and examples that are presented in a very effective order that enhances and strengthens the argument as presented in the thesis statement.	Good Author relays some opposing views and the facts given are in a clear effective order and they adequately support the argument as presented in the thesis statement.	Fair Author does not relay the opposing view and the facts given are not given in a clear effective order and they do not adequately support the argument as presented in the thesis statement.	Poor Argument does not prove to credible or reliable because there is no mention of the opposing viewpoint or it is barely discernible. Reasons are either missing or not in any discernible order.
Rogerian Theory 10 pts Builds upon the ethos of the argument, quite clearly	Excellent Author shows the reader both sides of the argument, including giving a clear example for both. However, they strongly prove that their assertion is the correct one to be taken seriously. All reasons are effectively supported by details and examples that are presented in a very effective order that enhances and strengthens the argument as presented in the thesis statement.	Good Author relays to the reader both sides of the argument, giving a somewhat unbiased example for the opposing view. They argue effectively for their side, but it could be stronger. Details and examples are presented in an effective order that strengthens the argument as presented in the thesis statement	Fair Author does not relay both sides of the argument and/or does not give an unbiased example for the opposing view. Their assertion is not effective and needs to be stronger. Conclusion 10 pts	Excellent The concluding paragraph clearly and effectively restates the argument and gives valid reasons in support of the argument. It may also call for action from the reader or at least invoke thought about the argument.	Good The concluding paragraph restates the argument based on the thesis statement. It also gives valid and logical reasons that support the argument.	Fair The concluding paragraph summarizes the argument based on the thesis, but it offers little to no additional support or validity for the argument.
