Student successfully articulates a research question that can be addressed within the time allotted, maximizing the available resources and be converted into a viable preliminary hypothesis

Student articulates a research question adequately. The question may possibly be addressed within the time allotted, utilizing the available resources and may be converted into an acceptable preliminary hypothesis
Fair

Student struggles to articulate a research question that realistically can be addressed withing the time allotted, requires too many or too few resources and/or does not convert well into an acceptable preliminary hypothesis.
Poor

Student fails to articulate an acceptable research question that can be converted into an acceptable preliminary hypothesis
Clarity

State the research question clearly and succinctly.

The research question is stated is focused with a clear direction to an eventual thesis and audience.
